Who We Are

ABOUT THE FOUNDERS

The African Survivor Leadership Academy (ASLA) is a project of Footprint to Freedom, a survivor-led organization. ASLA is co-created with the African Survivor Coalition, which is an initiative led by Footprint to Freedom.

OUR CORE VALUES

We are guided by a set of core values that underpin our approach to combating human trafficking:

  • Survivor-Centered: Prioritizing the needs, voices, experiences, perspectives, and well-being of survivors in all our endeavors.
  • Empowerment: Believing in the transformative potential of survivor leadership and working to empower survivors to drive change.
  • Inclusivity: Embracing and valuing survivors and stakeholders from diverse cultures and backgrounds, striving for inclusivity in our partnerships and initiatives.
  • Collaboration: Recognizing that combating human trafficking requires collaborative efforts with survivors, communities, governments, NGOs, private sectors, and other stakeholders.
  • Resilience: Embracing resilience in the face of challenges and working towards creating a movement that withstands adversity.
  • Coordinated and Integrated: Working within a unified and interconnected approach across all aspects of our response efforts given the multifaceted nature of modern slavery and human trafficking

AFRICAN SURVIVOR COALITION

Our coalition consists of a diverse and dedicated group of African survivor leaders united in our mission to eradicate human trafficking both on the continent and globally. At the heart of our approach is the empowerment of survivor leaders and the cultivation of a unified movement that drives significant change in the fight against human trafficking.

We amplify the voices of African survivors, nurture emerging leaders, promote collaboration and advocate for policy reforms. Through survivor-centred approaches, we aim to raise awareness and build strategic partnerships to amplify our impact.

The African Survivor Coalition also acts as a collaborative community, addressing the challenges survivors face on their path to empowerment and leadership while amplifying their voices in anti-human trafficking efforts.
